If you air dry with Re:coil, your hair will likely be left with a slight cast that you can shake out. By diffusing, results will be more soft, bouncy, curls. Curl Fresh Definer activates your curls, adds definition, and leaves hair feeling smooth, nourished and shiny. A community favourite, it has been described by many as their one-and-done and can be applied to both damp and dry hair, as well as used again to refresh throughout the day.

Air dry or diffuse based on your preference. Curl Fresh Definer tends not to leave a cast but may have more hold/retention if left to air dry. Curl Fresh Definer is recommended for fine-medium hair textures.

"I’ve been using re:coil and fast food for about 3 years now. This combo is the best! I’m 50 and I get compliments daily about how good my curls look. (Who even notices a 50 year old woman usually?) re:coil has some light tackiness, but without being overly sticky. Holds up fairly well in high humidity (sometimes I add a gel on top). Absolutely brilliant in moderate to low humidity. I have type 3A curls. I hope they always make this product because I’d be lost without it. I’ve tried a billion products (I know you have, too), but I’ve finally found my go to."

"Let me start with the price, totally fair for what you get - curl enhancing indeed! Next, packaging, it’s simple and cute, love the colours and easy to squeeze out the amount desired. It’s thick and creamy but can be worked into your hair easily. It doesn’t leave a crunch in your hair like gel does but there is a hold to it to keep the curls locked in. I really enjoy the scent it has, kind of reminds me of jellybeans or a sweet treat. Love the affect it leaves on my hair, beautiful wavy curls that hold!!"

Lightweight for wavy hair

"As a wavy hair girl that likes to keep my routine minimal, this was a nice lightweight product to try out for a low maintenance routine. Consistency isn’t too thick so it didn’t feel like it was weighing my hair down. The results from using this product definitely weren’t bad! It works and smells nice!

"The AG Care RE:COIL Curl Activator delivers on its name! It defines the waves in my hair and holds them all day and even into the next day. I do find that the first day the waves are a tiny but "crunch" but its great for a beachy look. By the second day, the waves are looser but still very defined waves. (With other products my heavy hair has become straight by day two. ) The key is to not use too much product and make sure you're crunching with a towel. Also, it smells really nice. Would deffo recommend!"

"I tried this for a few weeks and I feel like it might just not be for my hair type because my hair is quite fine but curly, its kinda of like a gel texture when it dries down and kind of leaves the crunchy texture, it’s pretty good for doing finger curls or a slick back style but use it lightly if you have finer hair"

Great frizz control

"I’ve been using the defining cream from AG Care for many years, so I was excited to try the curl activator. My hair has a very hard time keeping curls for more than 24hrs, so I was surprised when they were still in after waking up to soft waves! This product helped define my waves and curls, smells good, and keeps frizz under control. It also gave some good volume too! I used a lot of product so there was a bit of residue, but overall I love this product as part of a minimal routine."

"This is one of my most favorite products! I’ve used this plenty of times before. This I did receive for free for testing purposes. This whole brand is amazing for curly hair. Love it!

"I received this product for free in exchange for my honest opinion. I use it every time I wash my hair. I run it through my semi wet hair and, when it dries, my curls are extra curly and defined. It leaves my hair soft, not crunchy. The product is a bit tacky, but it loses its tackiness when you run it through your hair. I absolutely love it! A great Canadian brand with a great product. I recommend giving it a try."

Hydrating and shiny cream!!

"The first picture of my hair is with no product dry, the second is when I added the curl product (still wet), third is after using a diffuser and going throughout my day (completely dry and lived on) This was a very good curl cream! It wasn’t heavy on my hair and didn’t weigh my curls down. I learned that if you emulsify the product before applying it, a little goes a long way and you don’t get as much of heavy amount of product! (Highly recommend doing that step!) It kept my hair looking hydrated and shiny as well as keeping my curl pattern all day! It had a small cast after completely drying but easily scrunched out with my hair oil! I loved how my curls looked when using their curl cream plus leave in conditioner! I will continue to use this on my hair!!"

Does RE:COIL CURL ACTIVATOR still provide heat protection and if so, how much and does the heat protection still work if I apply gel over this cream?: Although our styling products have some heat protection, we recommend taking a look at Thermal Spray Gel, Deflect and Firewall for optimal thermal protection. Is this product ok. for high porosity hair?: Great question - Yes, Re:coil is a cream base that hydrates, defines and encourages natural patterns. In addition it is silicone-free and all of our products are always without: drying sulfates, DEA, PABA, Parabens, DMDM, gluten and more.
I noticed the the AG recoil curl cream has changed formula. I have been using it for 12 years and am so disappointed! Does this product have heat protection for diffusing? Thanks!: Thank you for the great question! Re:coil has thermal protection up to 140 degrees Celsius / 284 degrees Fahrenheit.
I use to to use an AG wax years ago, Like around 20 years ago. It came in a tube…think and light purple in color. Does this product still exist?: Thank you for reaching out to us. Unfortunately, AG has made the difficult decision to say goodbye to the Waxx. For a similar result, we normally recommend INFRASTRUCTURE Structurizing Pomade as an alternative.
